Spotlight on Service: Carmen Davis

At Lake Forest Hills Elementary School, where young minds are nurtured and shaped, Carmen Davis is dedicated to helping struggling young readers gain the skills they need to be successful in school.  As a Site Coordinator for RISE Augusta, Carmen brings over 30 years of experience in education and administration to the table, using her skills to help students become confident, capable readers.

RISE Augusta works collaboratively with teachers and school administrators during the school day, focusing on students reading below grade level. Their mission is clear: equip students with the skills they need to become strong readers who can not only decode words but comprehend and engage with the text they read. Carmen is at the heart of this mission, leading a team of energetic tutors that embody the core values of dedication, care, and perseverance.

Carmen believes that success in education is no accident. "Energy and even small recognition of successes bring lessons to life and build confidence," she says. For her, enthusiasm inspires a love for learning in students. Dedication means constantly adapting and improving strategies to meet each child's unique needs. She sees perseverance as key to overcoming challenges, whether academic or personal. Above all, Carmen is committed to creating a happy, supportive environment where her students feel valued and encouraged to succeed.
