RISE Shining Star: Doris Wearing
RISE Augusta has a wonderful team of people all working to foster the success of students in our community. These people typically work behind the scenes to insure our students get the help they need while assisting and supporting our local educators in their endeavors.
Doris Wearing’s dedication, and a passion for service in her role as Site Coordinator at Diamond Lakes Elementary School in Hephzibah, GA is second to none. Born in Berkeley County, South Carolina, Doris developed a lifelong commitment to supporting children and families very early in her career.
With a heart for community engagement, Doris has volunteered extensively with numerous agencies over the years. Her roles have included serving as a Brownie and Girl Scouts leader in Stuttgart, Germany, holding PTA and PTO officer positions in multiple schools, and chairing the Positive Ladies group at Cross Creek High School. She continues to volunteer with Restoration Ministries International and Concerned Women, Inc., making a lasting impact through her leadership and compassion.
Professionally, Doris has a wealth of experience, having worked for the Department of Defense as an Administrative Assistant with Army Space Command, as a Human Resource Manager at BI-LO, Inc., and as a Teacher and Parent Facilitator with the Richmond County Board of Education. Known for her genuine kindness, high expectations, and unwavering dedication, she inspires students and colleagues alike. Doris and her husband of 49 years reside in Augusta, Georgia. They cherish their family, including two daughters and two grandchildren, and remain active members of their church community.
