Marie began the year frustrated and embarrassed by ending sounds and word patterns. She often shut down in class. But with a patient tutor who rebuilt her skills step by step, Marie learned that she could read. Today she says reading is “easy,”a sentence that once felt impossible.
Darrien struggled to connect letters to sounds and rarely smiled during lessons. Now, he proudly reads full paragraphs with confidence. Writing still slows him down—he insists it takes “so long”—but he’s pushing forward one step at a time. Everyone who knows him can see it -- he will master writing, too.
Mary, once known for office visits and disruptive behavior, found a trusted adult who listened without judgment. As her reading and spelling improved, so did her confidence. She began walking to class with purpose. She discovered that she likes school and that learning is something she can do well. She still has hard days, but now she has tools, hope, and belief in her own ability to succeed.
