The Power of a Book: Transforming Lives One Page at a Time
A Simple Book. A Lifetime of Possibilities.
Shelly, a third grader, attended our recent free Book Fair at her school with one goal in mind: finding books she could confidently read. As she carefully scanned the table, she explained, “I need to make sure I can read all the words.” Shelly wasn’t just picking books for herself. At home, she helps her mother by reading the family’s bills and letters—a responsibility far beyond her years.
This moment perfectly illustrates why RISE Augusta’s work is so important. Last year, with the help of donors like you, we distributed over 31,000 free books to children and adults in Richmond County. These books aren’t just gifts; they’re tools of empowerment, opening doors to knowledge, creativity, and opportunity. For some children, they are the only books in their homes.
Our Little Libraries, placed throughout the downtown corridor, also play a critical role. These vibrant community hubs, lovingly decorated by local artists, ensure free books are always available for families who need them most.
Your support makes stories like Shelly’s possible. Together, we can ensure every child has access to books that spark joy and a love for learning.
Donate: $50 provides books for up to 10 children.
Volunteer: Join us in restocking our Little Library boxes or helping us at one of our next Free Book Fairs or agree to read a story to a classroom of eager children
Be part of a child’s journey to literacy. A single book can transform a life.
