A little boy came home from school one afternoon and proudly announced to his mother, “Mom! I learned something AMAZING today!”
“What’s that, sweetheart?” she asked.
“I learned that those little squiggly marks in books actually TALK!”
His mother smiled. “Really? What do they say?”
“Well, that’s the amazing part! They can tell you about dinosaurs, take you to the moon, teach you how to make cookies, and even tell you what your dog is thinking!”
“Your dog?” his mother asked.
“Well,” he admitted, I’m still working on that part.”
Then he paused and asked a very serious question.
“Mom, if books have all these wonderful stories inside them, why didn’t somebody tell me sooner?”
