A Jólabókaflóð Evening: Silent Book Club & RISE Augusta Book Drive
Share the Magic of Books This Holiday Season
Tuesday, December 23rd | Hosted at The Book Tavern
A Cozy Holiday Tradition, Brought to Augusta
Celebrate the warmth, wonder, and generosity of the season at our special Jólabókaflóð Silent Book Club event in support of RISE Augusta.
Jólabókaflóð—pronounced “Yo-la-bok-a-flot”—is an Icelandic tradition that began during World War II when paper was one of the few unrestricted goods, making books the most cherished holiday gift. Families exchanged books on Christmas Eve and spent the night reading together while sharing hot chocolate and mulled wine. Today, it’s a beloved national celebration centered on comfort, connection, and the joy of reading.
We’re bringing that magical tradition to Augusta to help spark a love of reading for local children in need.
